Reformed Audio Presents: Geerhardus Vos
"The obedience, the self-sacrifice, the fortitude, the exercise of all these in the profound Christian sense would have been impossible, if the saints had not had through faith their eye firmly fixed on the unseen and promised world . . . He who knows that for him a palace is in building does not dally with desires for improvements on a lower scale. Contentment with the lowest becomes in such a case profession of the highest, a badge of spiritual aristocracy with its profound insistence upon the ideal. Only the predestined inhabitants of the eternal city know how to conduct themselves in a simple tent as kings and princes of God." - Geerhardus Vos

Biblical Theology, Old & New Testaments, by Geerhardus Vos
Geerhardus Vos (1862-1949) was one of the most distinguished representatives of the Princeton Theology. He is sometimes called the father of Reformed Biblical Theology.
John Murray said of Vos, "Dr. Vos is, in my judgment, the most penetrating exegete it has been my privilege to know, and I believe, the most incisive exegete that has appeared in the English-speaking world in this century."
Born in the Netherlands, he came to the United States in 1881 when his father accepted the pastorate of a Christian Reformed Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Geerhardus graduated the Theological School (now Calvin College) in 1883. Vos went to Princeton Seminary to do post-graduate work, then studied for one year at the University of Berlin, followed by two years at the University of Strasburg, where he earned his doctorate.
In 1892, Vos accepted appointment as professor of the newly created chair of Biblical Theology at Princeton Seminary, where he taught until he retired in 1932. Among his students were such eminent men as J. Gresham Machen, John Murray, and Cornelius Van Til. During his 39 years at Princeton, Dr. Vos laid the groundwork for his best-known books: Biblical Theology: Old and New Testaments and The Pauline Eschatology.
